“Surplus” has released a new EP by the name of “A New Pattern” which revolves around the recent events in Iran (2022 protests). The lyrics are by Pouyan Moghadasi, and there are gonna be singles added to it further ahead.

این آلبوم از جنبه ی تکنیکال آلبومیست “پراگرسیو راک” که در آن از فضاهای “ارکسترال” و “الکترونیک” و حتی سنتی در راستای آهنگسازی استفاده شده است. اشعار مورد استفاده در این مجموعه نیز از آثار “احمد شاملو”، “منوچهر نیستانی” و “پویا راست‌گفتار” هستند. شایان ذکرست که اشعار “پویا راست‌گفتار” برای این مجموعه سروده شده‌اند. پنج اثر از آثار آلبوم دارای ترانه هستند که سه عدد از آنها از آواز سنتی بهره می‌گیرند. چهار اثر نیز اینسترومنتال هستند.
در انتخاب اشعار این مجموعه، تمرکز بر روی موضوعاتی از جمله مسائل کارگران، روزمرگی و معضلات سیاسی، اجتماعی بوده است.
از جنبه‌ی مفهومی، “سمپتوم” در روانکاوی برابر است با رنجی که در قالب یک رمز خود را بازنمایی میکند. در اینجا رنج به موضوعاتی که پیشتر به آنان اشاره شد باز‌می‌گردد و این مجموعه نیز “سمپتومی” از رنج مذکور است.

“Sine Function”, is a thirty minutes track on the subject of narcotics addiction, with a narrative structure. Needles to say, different type of atmospheres could be heard during this narration; though overall it could be tagged as a post-progressive rock one.

First single from the upcoming album of “Surplus” has been released. It’s called “Scream” and “Shadi Movahedi” appears on it as the guest vocalist.
The lyric is taken from the english translation of the poem, “A Scream” by “Ahmad Shamlou”. The translation is done by “Jason Bahbak Mohaghegh”.
Also the production is done by “Sepehr Haghighi”.
